ABOUT NATALIA FIRSOVA

Natalia M. Firsova worked at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (RUDN University) from 1961 until her death. She was the head of the Department of Foreign Languages, the Dean of the Faculty of History and Philology, the chairman of the dissertation council, the founder and editor-in-chief of the Bulletin of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Series Linguistics.

Thanks to her first-rate organizational skills and close creative contact with students and post-graduates both in Russia and in Spanish-speaking countries, the foundations of Latin American studies and the variability of pluricentric languages were laid at RUDN University. Now, the continuation may be seen in the School of Typology of Variation of Pluricentric Languages, which was founded in 2022 by the RUDN Academic Council.

On the initiative of Natalia M. Firsova, new degree specialisations in Linguistics and Journalism were opened at RUDN University, and curricula and programs were significantly reformed.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Firsova Readings is an international forum of linguists, literary critics, and culturologists, which has been held since 2014 by the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology and the Scientific and Educational Institute of Modern Languages, Intercultural Communication and Migration (RUDN University), to commemorate the outstanding Russian philologist-novelist and organizer of science, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation - Natalia Mikhailovna Firsova (1929-2013). The tradition of holding Firsova readings was initiated by the head of the Department of Foreign Languages, currently the First Vice Rector – Vice Rector for Education of RUDN University, PhD, Associate Professor Yulia N. Ebzeeva.

The VII Firsova Readings in 2025 are expected to feature a broad discussion of current issues in modern linguistics in fundamental and applied aspects. One of the new conference papers will be the section "Audiovisual Translation and Localization". For the first time, the event will host a round table "The World of Africa in Language and Culture". Students, masters and postgraduate students can present the results of their research as part of the round table "Views of Young Scientists"

Papers of the participants of the conference and roundtable discussion “Perspectives of young scientists” will be published in the conference e-proceedings (publisher - RUDN university, each article indexed in RSCI).

Application requirements

To participate in the conference, please, fill a registration form (or a form for participants of the round table "Young Scientists' View"), containing an abstract of the report in Russian and English

Manuscript requirements

TPlease, send the text of your report (Appendices 1 and 2 in the conference information letter) to the address: firsova.readings@pfur.ru by December 1, 2025.

Title the file with your family name in the following way: Smith_article.

Registration fee is paid after receiving an official acceptance letter from the organizing committee. After you pay, please e-mail the confirmation to: firsova.readings@pfur.ru.

All travel and accommodation costs are covered by the participant’s sending party or by participants themselves.

Registration fee:

  • Remote participation (publication without presentation) - 1,000 rubles, ₽.
  • In-person or online participation (presentation without publication) - 1,500 rubles, ₽.
  • In-person or online participation (presentation and publication) - 2,000 rubles, ₽.

In-person participants with the presentation have an opportunity to get a free advanced training certificate (16 academic hours).
